What are microcapsules and how do they work?

Micro-capsule hair extensions are a technique in which individual donor hair strands are attached to natural hair using 2-3 mm capsules. These small connectors don’t pinch the hair, don’t cause tangles, and are virtually invisible even as the hair grows out.

This method can extend hair by up to 80 cm—without a distinct line between natural hair and the extension. This technique is particularly effective for fine and not very thick hair, where traditional keratin capsules would be too heavy. With the right placement of the bundles, you can also achieve targeted thickening in specific areas—the temples, back of the head, or bangs.

The capsules are attached using a hot method—thermal tongs that melt the connecting element and form a joint at the root of the natural strand. Once cooled, the capsule is hard, transparent, and very small. It requires no special cleaning or care products—shampoos, masks, and conditioners used daily are completely safe.

The price of the treatment in Warsaw depends on the number of strands and their length. The more strands and the longer the strands, the longer the application time. We provide a quote during the consultation, after assessing the density and condition of the hair.

Contraindications include severely weakened hair or hair that has undergone aggressive chemical treatments. We recommend microencapsulated hair extensions before use. reconstruction and strengthening of the structure of the strands— this is a condition for the durability of the joints and the safety of the procedure.

If you are considering another cold technique – without the use of heat and keratin capsules – it is worth checking out fastening with special glue.

What does the procedure look like step by step?

01
Hair consultation and assessment

We assess the density, length, and condition of the natural strands. We determine the number of strands, their length, and arrangement to achieve a proportionate and natural effect.

02
Selection of donor bundles

We select strands to match the color and texture of your own hair. With very light or curly hair, selecting the shade and texture takes more time and determines the quality of the final result.

03
Dividing hair into sections

We divide the hairstyle into horizontal sections from the back of the head upwards. The bundles are attached in layers, leaving the joints covered by the strands above completely invisible.

04
Capsule attachment

We apply a donor bundle to each natural strand and form a capsule with thermal tongs. Once cooled, the joint is hard, small, and transparent—we inspect each one individually.

05
Evaluation of the effect and correction of the layout

Once all the beams are attached, we assess the symmetry, uniformity, and naturalness of the effect. If necessary, we adjust the placement before proceeding to the finishing touches.

06
Length equalization and recommendations

We even out the length and shape the hairstyle. We discuss home care and schedule the first touch-up—usually 4–6 weeks after the procedure.

Small capsules, big difference

  • 2-3mm Capsule – The joint that is not visible in the hairstyle

Even with a few centimeters of regrowth, the attachment remains hidden under the layer of hair.

  • Technique for thin and short hair

Small joints do not overload delicate strands – a natural effect without the risk of falling out.

  • Length and density in one treatment

We place the bundles point by point – where length or volume is most needed.

  • Care without product limitations

Shampoos, masks, conditioners – no everyday product will damage the capsules.

FAQ

  • How long does the effect last?

With regular touch-ups, the effect lasts 4–6 months. Touch-ups simply move the capsules higher as they grow—there’s no need to replace the entire set of bundles.

  • How short can the treatment be performed on?

The microcapsule technique is suitable even for very short hairstyles – provided that the natural strands are at least a few centimeters long so that the capsule has something to attach to.

  • Does the treatment damage natural hair?

With proper placement and the appropriate number of bundles, no. The small capsules don’t compress the strands. A pre-treatment consultation and assessment of the hair’s condition are crucial.

  • How often is correction needed?

Typically every 4–6 weeks, depending on hair growth. The correction itself takes less time than the initial extension, as it only involves repositioning the existing extensions.

  • Can I dye my hair after the treatment?

Yes, but the dye should not come into direct contact with the capsules. We recommend having your hair colored in a salon, where your stylist knows the location of the connectors and can avoid them during application.
